Last year, Halloween Horror Nights created a backlot scene with Freddy that could have won a Scream award. However, this year the highlights included the Simpsons' ride that makes you dizzy but is one hell of a ride and the classics ridden in the dark including The Mummy and Jurassic Park. Now, you tell me why were the mazes not so stellar this year. Was it because they failed to exploit Freddy and Jason keeping the classics in mind. I mean I understand that you have to mix it up every year but failing to include two of the greatest horror characters is just wrong. Not to mention I know next year the remake of Nightmare on Elm Street premieres but seriously why ignore the classic characters we all know and love. Saw is just not enough to rely upon and nor is Michael Myers. And wait, don't let me forget the most campy film in horror this year, My Bloody Valentine 3-d. Just to give a brief standing mention of one actress who truly deserves many awards for having the kahunas to do an entire scene running naked would go to Betsy Rue and this is a woman giving her props. Wow. Anyways, there simply was no reason for including an entire mazed dedicated to a lame miner gone psycho killer who wears a gas mask and just roars at people to scare them.
Honestly, Halloween Horror Nights needs to stick to the classics and pump up those mazes and hire more talent to scare the crap out of everyone there. Our economy sucks and you had less actors and actresses working this year than the last.
I give Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood 2009 a 6 out of 10 this year. I hope next year's gives a better scare for your buck. And Freddy better be the main event!
